Exiled

four stars out of five The film centres on a group of gangsters who have been assigned to kill one of their members. For reasons that aren’t really explained, he’s been in self-imposed ‘exile’ for a few years but has now returned with his wife and baby.

Knowing he will have to face the music – oh, yes, and the contract on his head – he faces down the gang. After a bit of bonding, the gang heads off in search of new work, which takes them to various sites around Macau.

This film is beautifully shot, with rich deep colours. The dialogue (in translation in subtitles) is often amusing and the action sequences well executed.

It’s very watchable, funny and enjoyable, confounding your expectations with just about every turn of the (complicated) plot – that I don’t want to give away here, so I’ll just recommend you to watch it for yourself.
