four stars out of five Gorgeous first few minutes, almost wordlessly summarising a lifelong relationship. Heartbreaking watching the couple age & decline, see how life’s petty everyday niggles get in the way of achieving bigger ambitions.

After that, though, it’s as if the filmmakers got creative cold feet & so it’s back to the fairly standard hyperactive kid / whacky animals animation scenario. So, too many over the top bits (the dogs shouting “Squirrel” gets old really fast) but also plenty of very funny & well-crafted moments. The extra of the filmmakers in South America is fascinating but they get to do it & I’m just sitting at home watching a film about it. Dammit, I need to get out & achieve something before it’s too late….
